Jim Primavera is a C7/8 quadriplegic who uses his personal and professional experiences as an athlete with a disability, a motivational speaker, and as a father in the pursuit of a life not inhibited by the physical challenges he has lived with for a number of years. He has competed in a number of sports and activities from a recreational to a high performance level, including wheelchair rugby, powerlifting, track and field, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair curling, handcycling, water sit-skiing, all-terraining, fishing, boccia, and high end audio. He has competed nationally and internationally in wheelchair rugby, boccia, and field events (shot put, javelin and discus), in which he still holds a number of Canadian records. Jim is committed to giving back to the community that has given him so much through the peer support he provides with the Canadian Paraplegic Association as well as through participation in the frequent "Game Days" held for children at Variety Village. As a motivational speaker, Jim imparts the message of "embracing life as we are", finding something we enjoy doing by trying and most of all, making sure we are having fun doing it. Jim is married to his wife, Evi, and recently became a father to Angelina, who he looks after on a full time basis. He feels it is important to let the community and people who are challenged with a disability know that we can live a full life, raise a family and stay active just like he is doing.
